The International Journal of Accounting (TIJA) Symposia
The Symposium began in 1967 with the goal of fostering research in international accounting and populating the ranks of scholars who are interested in the field. Since 2003, the Symposium has been held abroad in collaboration with other universities to help benefit by the talents of scholars in different regions of the world.
The Symposium has three objectives:
- Improving the quality of research through an in-depth discussion of six to ten papers
- Learning additional research skills
- Helping to generate new ideas.
2025 Illinois International Accounting Symposium
May 19 - 22, 2025 | Leuven, Belgium
The 2025 Illinois International Accounting Symposium will be held jointly with the Accounting Research Group at KU Leuven's Faculty of Economics and Business in Belgium.
Today's rapidly evolving business and reporting environment is undergoing significant changes due to new regulations, heightened stakeholder expectations, and global initiatives aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and sustainability. The theme of the symposium will be "Regulatory Reform" (as related to accounting, corporate reporting, auditing, ESG, ...). However, innovative papers on other subjects will also be welcome. Selection of papers will depend on novelty, quality, and incremental contribution to the accounting literature. Submitted papers must not have been published or submitted elsewhere.
We will also be holding a doctoral consortium on the first day of the symposium (May 19) to assist up to 25 PhD students with their research and development of their dissertations.
